Winter Decor at the Castle

How is the Castle decorated in the winter?

Every year we enjoy decorating for the winter season!  We typically begin decorating in the beginning of November, and are done by the first week of December.  We place most of our décor throughout the common areas of the Castle. We have beautiful lighted garlands accented with colorful bulb ornaments gracing the entrance to the Welcome Center and main building.  In our foyer areas, we place garland on top of our display cases and window sills which are often adorned with bows and pine cones. We also have a beautiful nativity scene we display in the showcase at the main entrance foyer. Outside of our Event Office we place two whimsical holiday displays, using stuffed reindeer and polar bears, gingerbread house-inspired décor and lighted trees. We add a tall, lighted Christmas tree with white snowflake ornaments to the upstairs foyer outside of the King’s Great Hall.

We typically keep our wedding spaces without too much added décor allowing our couples to choose how they want to decorate.  We have a lovely, lighted winter garland that is hung around the doorways into the East Garden Room and King’s Great Hall, and it also adorns the perimeter of the King’s Great Hall from the end of November through January to add a touch of light and warmth through the winter season. We add small sections of this garland atop the doorway into the West Garden Room, as well.

From Thanksgiving to Christmas, our West Garden Room is transformed with a winter train display!  Our Train Engineers create masterpiece displays with holiday trains and décor, often incorporating overhead railways and riding trains for guests to enjoy!
