This time of year is typically pretty busy at Castle Farms. Our calendars are normally booked and we’re busy with weddings galore! These days, it’s a little quieter around our popular Michigan wedding destination. Like other wedding venues, we’ve experienced a major disruption due to COVID-19 which has led to wedding postponements and rescheduled dates, many of which remain uncertain and are dependent upon the state lifting restrictions on larger gatherings.
While this has been a bump in the road for us, it has of course, been most difficult for our clients – the couples who have spent months (even years) planning for what was to be one of the most important days of their lives. Nowadays, when it comes to planning a wedding, flexibility is a necessity. However, that’s not an easy pill to swallow.
Time for Plan B
To accommodate our recent postponements, and in anticipation of others, we’ve implemented a Plan B – mostly consisting of weekday weddings, smaller ceremonies & receptions, or even elopements. Even in “normal” times, there was always a Plan B, and often those weddings ended up an even bigger success than what would’ve been Plan A! This is why we encourage our clients to stay positive, take it one day at a time, and see as much of a silver lining as possible…
Affordability: Whether you opt to scale down your wedding or have it on a weekday, the bright side is that it will most certainly be a lot more affordable!
Increased Vendor Availability: If you decide to move your wedding to a weekday, lots of things suddenly open up – especially vendors! Maybe that photographer or caterer that you wanted but couldn’t get will now be available!
Quality Time with Guests: While it’s tempting to invite all your friends and family to a giant extravaganza, there’s something to be said for having a smaller guest list. You will be able to spend a lot more quality with the ones who are the most important in your life.
A Wedding for the Bride & Groom: Another thing about larger weddings, is sometimes they become more about the guests and less about the couple. When you opt for a more intimate wedding, the focus is about you and your fiancé, and there’s something to be said for that.
