Whether you’re getting married in the winter or summer the photo opportunities are endless at Castle Farms.
An important thing to remember is that the weather and lighting will be testing your photographer and these things change quite a bit depending on the time of year.
For winter weddings you want to keep in mind that the sunset in Charlevoix, MI is at 5:15 pm starting in November and slowly sets a 1-2 minutes later each day leading up to a 5:45 pm sunset by the end of January and a 6:45 pm sunset in early March. You want to plan timely around this so you can still get in some beautiful photos during daylight hours. Doing a first look could be beneficial so you are able to get in more photos of just the two of you earlier in the day. would leave more time for photos with the wedding party and family following your ceremony.
Not doing a first look? Not a problem! Photo time earlier in the day can instead be used for individual portraits of you, your love and your wedding party as well as the group shots of you with your side of the wedding party. Sunset photos are also very popular and can give you and your other half a bit more privacy while your guests are enjoying the reception. With a date in the warmer seasons, the sunset takes place at 8:45 pm starting in May, peaks at 10:10 pm in June, and slowly sets earlier each day leading to a fall sunset time of 7:00 pm by mid October. During the height of summer, you have plenty of time to start your wedding photography a little later in the day. We recommend taking as many of your wedding photos during cocktail hour (right after your ceremony) so that you have a maximized amount of time to spend with your guests who have traveled here to celebrate you.
