Mindy and Carl were married on August 1st in the Knight’s Courtyard, with their reception following in the West Garden Room. By using an idea they saw displayed at Castle Farms, and combining it with the elegance of the West Garden Room, the couple created their own “simple-yet-elegant” summer celebration!
“Carl got down on one knee in front of his sons and my parents, and asked me to marry him in December 2012. I started planning soon after, as I’d been waiting a long time for a great guy to spend my life with!
Carl and I wanted a destination wedding, but we also wanted all of our family members to be able to attend. I started by doing an internet search of wedding venues in Northern Michigan, and was immediately intrigued by Castle Farms. Its uniqueness, beautiful grounds and various ceremony and reception locations were particularly attractive to me. I visited Castle Farms soon after and was also impressed with the professionalism of the staff. We booked an August 1, 2013 wedding during that initial visit!
We chose to host our reception in the West Garden Room, as it best fit our theme of “simple-yet-elegant”. The room is already lovely, so I just wanted to add some color and fresh flowers to the tables. I chose to use purple, as it has been my favorite color since I was a little girl. I also thought that, purple ~ the color of royalty ~ was appropriate for a castle wedding. During my second visit to Castle Farms, I noticed a display table decorated with ribbons instead of the usual single, thick table runner. I loved the look, so I used ribbon in different styles, prints and shades of purple for my tables. I liked the candles provided by Castle Farms, so I simply added a mirror underneath to reflect more light. Finally, I put individual lavender roses in votive holders to let the flowers open nicely.”
Using fun simple decorations, plus wonderful food from BJ’s Restaurant, Rentals and Catering and entertainment from Simply Unforgettable, Mindy and Carl’s guests were able to enjoy the beautiful reception and dance the night away! Congratulations again, Mindy and Carl!
