Kayla K. asks: “Are my wedding guests able to tour the grounds?”
Sarah says: “We love that our Castle couples are excited about this historical venue, and want to share it with their guests! Guests are welcome to visit the common gardens adjacent to their reception venue. Often, when the Castle coordinators see wedding guests beginning to explore, we point them to the best Castle attraction closest to their venue. We don’t want them to miss any of the wedding festivities!
“We do not allow guests to wander the entire grounds during weddings as there are areas reserved by other events; however, we do have a great full tour option available. Anytime up to two weeks before and two weeks after the wedding date, Castle wedding guests receive 50% off our Self-Guided Tour admission by presenting their wedding invitation. We see guests using this often; Charlevoix is a great Michigan destination, and many wedding guests travel to town a bit early or stay awhile after the wedding to enjoy the area. Guests can come get a sneak peak of the venue when they arrive into town, or they can come back after the wedding day to explore everything the Castle has to offer.
“Each reception space includes a private outdoor area from May through October; these are great areas for your guests to use to enjoy the beauty of the Castle buildings and gardens. Using those areas, guests stay close to the reception so they do not miss any activities, plus couples can add personal touches like lawn games or décor to enhance the experience. The private outdoor areas include the East Garden with the East Garden Room, the King’s Balcony with the King’s Great Hall, the West Courtyard with the West Garden Room, the Knight’s Courtyard with the Knight’s Castle, and the Queen’s Courtyard with the Queen’s Tavern.”
